Signal One International, LLC, has created a groundbreaking desalination technology called Reverse Diffusion Desalination and Decontamination (RD3), which inexpensively removes dissolved salts and heavy metals from contaminated water by reversing the natural dispersion process. Unlike traditional methods, RD3 sweeps contaminants from the water, resulting in lower energy use and maintenance costs, with the potential to be solar-powered. The technology is patented and has shown promising test results, with prototypes already built and tested. RD3 systems are versatile, ranging from small countertop units to large-scale municipal systems, and have numerous applications, including producing fresh water for drinking and agriculture, water softening, and environmental cleanup. The company plans to start manufacturing and marketing these systems within a year of securing funding, with an estimated setup cost of $1 billion.
